AmeriCorps Week 2014 Kickoff – Early Learners’ Pathways To Success Service Project with Buffalo AmeriCorps at The Belle Center
In celebration of AmeriCorps Week 2014, Buffalo AmeriCorps volunteers served to help place a special emphasis on the importance of early childhood learning. Members engaged in pre-k readiness educational activities with student’s ages 1-4 years old at The Belle Center. AmeriCorps Week is March 8-16, 2014.
AmeriCorps Week is a time to celebrate the volunteer service of past and present members and their impact on communities nationwide. Buffalo AmeriCorps at The Belle Center kicked-off AmeriCorps Week 2014 with an “Early Learners’ Pathways To Success” Service Project. Members worked with children and performed reading activities, letter/visual recognition, rhyming/sounds, journaling and more. Education is one of two focus areas that Buffalo AmeriCorps members tackle throughout their year of service.
The federal agency, Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) leads the annual AmeriCorps Week Celebration. During this time, the CNCS works to recognize the AmeriCorps related volunteer service activities of thousands of current and past Corps members, nonprofit groups, faith-based organizations, schools and businesses nationwide.
