A new three-hour walking tour of restaurants and food-related shops in Buffalo’s historic Elmwood Village is set to kick off this month. These unique tours, offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, will include six stops, lots of great food and even a side order of Buffalo history.

Buffalo Bites Food Tours is the brainchild of Buffalo native Laura Reed, who discovered the uniqueness and excitement of a great food tour almost by accident.

The Cheesy Chick a Welcome Addition to Buffalo's Food Truck Scene

The Cheesy Chick a Welcome Addition to Buffalo's Food Truck Scene

The Cheesy Chick has been roaming the streets of Buffalo for the last four weeks but since they primarily only serve during lunch time, we haven’t had a chance to visit the truck.  When I woke up on Saturday morning to see their tweet about being on Amherst St at 464 Gallery, Alli and I knew we couldn’t miss it.  I won’t lie, I was nervous about the food on the truck.  It’s nothing against the team working inside the truck, but it has taken every Buffalo food-truck a few weeks to get their food right and some of the early reviews of The Cheesy Chick were mixed.

O'Connell's Wows During Restaurant Week

O'Connell's Wows During Restaurant Week

Our final meal of Local Restaurant week was a weekend dinner at O’Connell’s American Bistro, a long overdue visit to a restaurant that has been on our wishlist for years.  Both Alli and I were looking for an offering that was something really creative.  Normally the restaurants will offer a small selection of their normal menu but what stood out about O’Connell’s offering was how they really tried something different.

Lagerhaus 95 Brings Good Food and Beer to the Arena District

Lagerhaus 95 Brings Good Food and Beer to the Arena District

If you are planning on going to an event at First Niagara Center, there is unfortunately a lack of good dining options within walking distance.  On top of that, the restaurants that we do enjoy (Swannie House, WJ Morrisey’s) are usually insanely packed in the time leading up to any event.  So when we first heard about Lagerhaus 95 and their gastro-pub style menu was opening right off Cobblestone on Perry St, we were pretty excited.  Everyone knows there are plenty of good restaurants in Allentown, North Buffalo and the Elmwood Village, but in this area of downtown Buffalo there is definitely a lack of quality.
