BUFFALO, NY - Part of the I-190 Niagara Section of the New York State Thruway was closed Sunday morning for a major project you may have seen if you were anywhere near the Peace Bridge.
A spokesperson for Canadian Niagara Power tells us that crews used a helicopter to stretch five ropes between power poles in the U.S. and Canada.
That's part of an ongoing project to replace power lines across the Niagara River. She said later this week the ropes will be used to pull the power line from the U.S. side of the river to the Canadian side.
She said the plan is to energize the new power lines on December 19.
More information on this project is available on the Canadian Niagara Power website.
