D'Youville's Kavinoky Theater Opens 2011 Season with "Rock 'N' Roll"

The Kavinoky Theater on the campus of D'Youville college has announced the opening of its 2011 season with an adaptation of four time Tony Winner Tom Stoppard's "Rock 'N' Roll". The critically acclaimed performance features a story about three generations living through the counter culture experience of the 1960s and finding their world is changing around them.

The limited engagement will run from March 4th to April 11th. Performances will take place Thursdays and Fridays at 8 P.M., Saturdays at 4 and 8 P.M., and Sundays at 2 P.M. Elmwood Village Association to Host Family Skate Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Elmwood Village Association is pleased to present Family Skate Day for all Elmwood Village Association members and guests on Sunday, February 27th, 2011 from 1:00pm - 2:50pm at the Buffalo State Ice Arena!

The Elmwood Village Association will cover the cost of skating for the first 160 Elmwood Village Association members that attend. Not a current member of the Elmwood Village Association? You can become a member during the event and receive free ice time for you and your family compliments of the Elmwood Village!

Each participant must provide their own skates and sign a legal release in order to participate. Skates may be rented at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena during the event.  Skate rental fees are $2 for adults and $1 for children.

Buffalo Zoo’s Snow Leopard Cubs To Move to the Chahinkapa Zoo

Buffalo, NY– Ketu and Makalu, the Buffalo Zoo’s two male snow leopard cubs, will find a new home at the Chahinkapa Zoo in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

The cubs will leave the Buffalo Zoo early Thursday morning and travel by truck to North Dakota.  The Chahinkapa Zoo’s curator, Tom Schmaltz, will accompany the cubs and monitor them throughout the trip to ensure they arrive safely.

Buffalo, New York- February 11, 2011-As seen in The Buffalo News, Buffalo AmeriCorps members are continuing to fight the large snow accumulations remaining at local properties of senior and disabled Buffalo residents. Between December 2nd, 2010 and February 10, 2011 Buffalo AmeriCorps members from The Belle Center successfully responded to 440 snow removal requests through the City of Buffalo’s 311 Call Resolution Center with more on the way!

Whether it’s the north, south, east or west side of Buffalo, a small team of less than 4 AmeriCorps members have been tirelessly responding to the icy task of snow removal.

Daytuan Antonetti-Buffalo AmeriCorps Program Director stated: “Serving is what we do and the smiles on the senior and disabled faces when they are able to safely get in and out of their homes is simply priceless!”

NEW World Renowned Parent-Child Home Program Kicks-Off at Belle Center

Buffalo, New York – February 7, 2011 – The Belle Center is pressing forward to equip the diverse, low-socioeconomic children and their families on the Lower West Side of Buffalo with the tools needed for success in school and beyond through its NEW Parent-Child Home Program. Statistics show that students enrolled in Parent-Child Home Programs worldwide are more than 30 percent likely to graduate from high school than their peers who have not been in the program.
