Art(ifacts) & Crafts at the Historical Society: Vintage Valentines, and One for Your Baby!

Join us at the Historical Society on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, for Art(ifacts) & Crafts, an evening of crafting inspired by items from our incredible collections. Melissa Brown, the new director of the Historical Society and an avid scrapbooker herself, will show the artifacts, and then lead the workshop. Materials are provided.

See special Valentine’s from the collections (we've even got a chocolate one!) and make your own paper keepsakes of scrapbooked journal pages or cards. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm; learn about something old and create something new!

This is the first in a planned series of artifact-inspired crafting evenings for adults, so stay tuned...

WHAT: Crafting inspired by the collections—a make-and-take project done in one night

WHEN: Tuesday evenings January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 17, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Scotch and Chocolate Event Slated at the Beautiful Grand Theatre

Among the many things that Western New Yorkers appreciate, great food and theater would be high on the list! With that in mind, the historic Grand Theatre in nearby London, Ontario, dating back to 1901, will hold its second annual Taste: Scotch & Chocolate event, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. The event will take place in The Grand’s McManus Studio, located at 471 Richmond St., London.

Taste will feature a scotch-tasting bar, chocolate- and scotch-inspired foods, chocolatier Marc Forrat, an open bar, silent auction and the Alfredo Caxaj Latin Ensemble. Only 150 tickets, priced at $75 each, are available for this very special occasion.
