Peace of the City proudly presents a modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing on July 20-23 hosted by the Ujima Company, Inc., in its TheaterLoft* space. The cast is comprised of 25 teenagers from the Buffalo Public Schools.

The teenagers participate in Peace of the City, a West Side-based non-profit dedicated to providing transformative education and creative arts programming using a relationship-based approach.

Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy set in a beauty parlor that comes to life with wit and gossip gone terribly wrong while showcasing the classic battle of the sexes. These teenagers dedicate many hours during the summer to participate in this unique performance opportunity offered through Peace of the City.

Much Ado About Nothing will be performed at the TheaterLoft located at 545 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14222 on:

• Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m

• Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m.

• Sunday, July 22 at 4 p.m.

• Monday, July 23 at 7 p.m.

The performances are “pay-what-you-can,” which is indicative of Peace of the City’s commitment to inclusiveness. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-seated basis; no pre-sale tickets are available. All four performances in 2011 sold out so theatergoers should plan to arrive early. Following each performance, a freewill offering will be taken to support the ongoing work of Peace of the City on the West Side of Buffalo.
