Hello Yesterday! An 80's Festival

Celebrate all the best of the 80's at Hello Yesterday! An all-ages, all-day 80's Festival featuring A Flock of Seagulls, When In Rome, Animotion, Dramarama and Gene Loves Jezebel.  The festival includes a LipSync contest, 80's Guitar Hero and much more!

General Admission on-line tickets are $35 (plus applicable fees). Tickets the day of the event are $45.  Children 13 and under are free.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit Hunter's Hope. Festival attendees will have an opportunity to contribute to the community and help Hunter's Hope by participating in the silent auction. The tent will be open all day with two auctions going on during the festival.

HEALTHeLINK Unveils $16.1 Million Beacon Community Initiative to Fight Diabetes

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In June 2010, HEALTHeLINK received the largest Beacon Community Award in the United States from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Beacon Project was created to help communities use health information technology to forge cooperation and use resources effectively toward local priority health goals.

HEALTHeLINK was joined today by Dr. David Blumenthal, the point person for the national health information technology initiative, as well as other dignitaries, including Congressman Brian Higgins and New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Richard F.

Universal Pre-K Program Now Offered at The Belle Center

The Belle Center now has a Universal Pre-K Program. Universal Pre-K starts September 8th, 2010 and operates from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Monday – Friday.

Portion of Bird Island Walkway Closed

BUFFALO, NY-- It's a popular summer destination for walkers and fishers, but a portion of it is closed due to safety concerns.

The Bird Island Pier Walkway, from the first elevated platform at the Peace Bridge to the southern end of the pier, is shut down until further notice.

Inspectors from the Army Corps of Engineers and city recently found significant structural damage on that part of the walkway.

5th Annual Kids Day Fest: Unity In The Buffalo Community

Buffalo, New York – August 27, 2010 – The Belle Center Summer Camp program will culminate with its major Kids Day Fest that unites families in Buffalo for a day of fun and activities.

This event will take place 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 27th, at 104 Maryland Street Buffalo, NY 14201.

Hundreds of families from all around Buffalo will join us in celebration of the culmination of a successful summer camp and unity in the community. Summer Camp at The Belle Center not only allows our children to experience the joys of the summer season, but it provides fertile ground for learning and cultural activities inside and outside of the city.

There will be food and beverages - hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn; entertainment and activities – obstacle course, face painting, games, a live DJ and more.

Arrests Made with Help of K-9 in Riverside Standoff

RIVERSIDE, NY-- Buffalo police have arrested two individuals in connection with a standoff Sunday night in the city's Riverside section from the help of a Police K-9.

Officers responded to a call of a man with a gun around 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the first block of Riverside Avenue. Police believe one of two suspects fired off shots in the street area of Riverside Avenue.

According to Police, numerous residents, including children, were outside when the incident happened. The individual then ran into his home at 66 Riverside Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they surrounded the home and a short time later SWAT and the Hostage Management Team were called to the scene.

After a brief negotiating period, the two suspects surrendered without incident.
