March of Dimes Celebrates Annual Signature Chefs Auction

The March of Dimes, Western New York Division presents the 2010 Signature Chefs Auction, “Feathers & Flair, A March of Dimes Monte Carlo Affair” on Friday, October 8 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. Western New York’s finest chefs will offer their signature dishes coupled with wine tastings from regional wineries and accompanied by an array of unique live and silent auction items and entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend the evening, which raises money and awareness to save babies from prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality.

This year’s event promises to be an elegant night with some of the best restaurants in town. Featured dishes will be prepared by Alex’s Place, Blue Buffalo, Chef’s Restaurant, Fiamma Steak House, Harry’s Harbour Place Grille, Koi, La Scala, My Tomato Pie, Protocol Restaurant and Rich Renaissance Catering. Wine selections will be offered by Merritt Estate Winery.

Celebrate Starlight! Starlight Studio 5th Anniversary

On October 1, 2010 from 7-10pm, Western New York will celebrate the 5 year anniversary of Starlight Studios in conjunction with The Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York"Celebrate Starlight", is a gathering of community, artists, business, educators, art aficionados, teaching artists, organizations, musicians and students of the gallery to celebrate the work both organizations continue to provide to all genres of art.   

This event is FREE and open to the public.  All are invited and welcomed.

Buffalo Youth Advantage Basketball Coaches to Receive SUNY Training

Russ Kingsbury, director of the Buffalo Youth Advantage Basketball program, has scheduled a coaching certification course with the SUNY Youth Sports Institute for Thursday, September 16th.  The class will be held at the Expressway Assembly of God Church located at 260 Eggert Road in Buffalo.  The presentation is set to begin at 6:00pm and is expected to last 2.5 hours.  Tim Donovan, Director and Founder of the SUNY Youth Sports Institute, will be the Instructor teaching Thursday evening’s course.

Riverside's Williams Scores TD in Bucs Win over Cleveland

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Micheal Spurlock caught a 33-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rallied past the Cleveland Browns, 17-14, in the first game of the season for both clubs.

Josh Freeman completed 17-of-28 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick for the Bucs, who went just 3-13 last season.

Rookie Mike Williams who played high school football at Riverside, caught a TD pass for Tampa Bay, which got 75 rushing yards from Cadillac Williams.

Jake Delhomme connected on 20-of-37 passes for 227 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in his Browns debut.

Peyton Hillis, who spent the last two years with Denver, carried the ball nine times for 41 yards and a score. Jerome Harrison rushed for 52 yards on nine carries. Mohamed Massaquoi caught a TD pass for Cleveland, which went 5-11 last year.

BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority(Peace Bridge Authority) greets the official start of the National Football League seasonby reminding game-day travelers of a few important international border crossing tips.

“We wish the Bills well in 2010 and want the 12th Man at the game, on time, to cheerthem on,” said PBA Chairman Ken Schoetz. “Educating Bills fans on how to properlycross the border is an important factor in reducing congestion on busy Sundaymornings at the Peace Bridge. Nobody wants to arrive to the stadium late, which iswhy we encourage all travelers to make their trek to the game as easy as possible, byshowing up to the border fully prepared to cross through Customs.”
